Which binding will be suitable and meet the requirements for release on both groomed slopes and off-piste?

Message par Jankes »

Hi, I need advice on buying bindings for the Faction Le Split 182cm Mono monoski. Which binding will be suitable and meet the requirements for release on both groomed slopes and off-piste? I was considering the ATK Raider 12 Alpine Touring Bindings or the Marker Alpinist 12. This is my first monoski; I usually ski Telemark, but I wanted to try something new. 😉 I don't know which binding will be best for transferring lateral forces and preventing premature release. Hybrid bindings are definitely better for this: AT/tech - full heel. Bindings with DIN technology. The issue of release is key here. Technical question: updating the ski stopper mounting vs. the ATK Kevlar Core Leash? My weight is 85 kg, height is 184 cm, Dynafit HOJI PU 301 mm shoe

Best regards, and I look forward to your feedback, with the option?😉

Luke

:~eo Welcome here !

Really funny, today I put bidings on my Faction split...

But I can't tell you if my choice is a good one, I just put the same I have seen on a over split, some Plum guide...

I will tell you more in a few days!

Plum Guide are good indeed, and light.

The only tip is to always let the front binding on the "Walk" position, so only the rear binding can release (it's more dangerous than anything when the front bindings release on a monoski).

Locking the descent mode to "walking" is a very risky solution when going off-piste!! It can be used on-piste, but off-piste, I'm not convinced.?

Tested all day long yesterday, exactly what I needed 8-)

And I also thing it's a good thing to keep the front binding on "walk" position, always...

In monoski, there is a fundamental rule: NEVER unclip from the front. If only one binding unclips, it's the ankle or knee that takes the hit. And when the front releases, it's often only one foot, unlike the back. Therefore, I confirm, Walk position is necessary.

Actually, another rule is even more fundamental... Have fun!!! ;) mdr

I have a few more questions regarding binding installation:
How should bindings be mounted relative to the central axis of a single-piece split-mono board?
Can the bindings be offset laterally from the axis due to boot width? (For example, in case of interference between boot positioning in ride mode and the width of the split-mono board.)
Could you also elaborate on the issue of toe-piece release — why is it recommended to keep the toe locked during descent, even though this corresponds to the “walk mode”?
Best regards,
Luke
